We had a fantastic time at the guesthouse and highly recommend it! The view from the terrace is breathtaking, and the shared dining experience was a unique and enjoyable touch. The room was great and the breakfast was delicious. The staff, especially Maria, were incredibly helpful and friendly. The location is also convenient, with wineries and a beautiful walk to town nearby. Casa de Casal de Loivos was a wonderful retreat extraordinaire!
We do recommend this hotel.

The view from the property is absolutely breathtaking and the entire place has a charming and authentic feel to it. The pool area was perfect for relaxing and taking in the stunning surroundings. The homemade dinner was delicious, especially the desserts which were beautifully made. But the highlight of my stay was the owner, Bernardo, who went above and beyond to make sure I had the best experience. He helped me arrange a boat tour and gave me fantastic recommendations for things to do and places to eat in the area. His personal touch truly made my stay memorable. I highly recommend this hotel for a couple of days escape in the Douro valley.
Although the room didn't have air conditioning, it wasn't an issue as the temperature stayed cool and comfortable at night. Additionally, the breakfast could use more variety and appetizing options.

The hotel had a stunning view of the valley and river, which made for some breathtaking photos. the pool was also a great addition, perfect for a refreshing swim. Having meals with other travelers was a fun experience, as we got to meet people from all over the world and share stories.
The hotel was situated quite far up the hill, making it difficult to walk into town. We had to rely on cabs, which were available but added an extra expense to our stay.

The view from this place was absolutely breathtaking, especially during Christmas time. Being able to wake up to the panoramic view of the Douro river valley was truly magical. the staff was friendly and always made sure we had everything we needed.
The directions given to us were completely misleading and caused us a lot of unnecessary stress. We were told to use GPS, which led us on a terrifying route through narrow dirt roads.

We had an incredible experience at Casa De Casal De Loivos Guest House. Maria, the manager, was extremely helpful and gracious throughout our stay. She even went above and beyond by assisting us with our luggage. the breakfast and dinner provided were delicious, and the dining room with its family-style seating added to the enjoyable experience. the authentic and beautiful home was a sight to behold, and the breathtaking views from the top of the hill were truly unforgettable.
We couldn't have asked for a more exceptional location and experience. Cons: Nothing could have been better!

The view from our room was absolutely breathtaking, overlooking the stunning Douro Valley. The shared terrace added a romantic touch to our stay, giving us the opportunity to enjoy the panoramic scenery together. We also loved the communal dining experience, where we could meet and socialize with other guests while enjoying a delicious breakfast and dinner.
We found the dinner offered by the hotel to be quite ordinary and overpriced. This was a bit disappointing as it affected our overall experience.

Stunning views: The photos on the website are a true representation of the breathtaking views you can enjoy during your stay. Helpful staff: The staff is friendly and goes above and beyond to assist with arranging wine tours, taxis, and other needs.- Traditional dining experience: The dinner provided at the hotel is great, and it is served in a beautiful and traditional dining room.
Lack of air conditioning: During our stay, it was very hot and there was no air conditioning. This made the meals in the stuffy dining room uncomfortable, although the beautiful pool helped alleviate the heat.

I had the most incredible stay at a guesthouse with a magical view that took my breath away. The property had a charming antique feel and provided all the basic necessities. The breakfast selection was simple yet varied, and the communal dining area created a unique opportunity to enjoy meals with strangers. Walking around the vineyard was a delightful way to immerse myself in the surroundings. The staff was incredibly friendly and helpful, adding to the warm and welcoming atmosphere of the place. I highly recommend this guesthouse for a relaxing and scenic getaway.

The view from the hotel is stunning, overlooking the beautiful Douro valley. the pool is great for relaxation, and the homemade dinner is delicious. the owner, Bernardo, goes above and beyond to make your stay enjoyable. He helped us arrange a boat tour and gave great recommendations for exploring the area.
That the two evening meals we had at the hotel were not up to par. the portions of chicken and duck were minimal, and the overall quality was poor.
Tourists from South Africa often stay at these properties. Ideas for your future trips.
